Jupiter Donation Pickup
What’s in a name?
The Jupiter donation pickup area got its name from the Roman god of Jupiter, because everyone kept consistently misspelling the native name of the place. At first, the land was named after the Hobe Indian tribe living in the Jupiter area and present-day Hobe Sound, but then a Spanish mapmaker miswrote the correct translation of the city “Jobe” as “Jove.” The seemingly insignificant blunder later evolved into more naming issues, since other mapmakers later read the name of the city and deduced that it was supposed to be the Latin translation of “Jupiter,” the Roman god of god of sky and thunder.
Jupiter is famous for its notable lighthouse, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, which has served as a landmark for explorers after 1860. The lighthouse was built on a hill, once thought to be a tribal burial mound. This was discovered not to be the case however. Although Florida has no mountains, the hill of the lighthouse today is recognized a natural parabolic sand dune. The brick Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse was painted bright red in 1910, making it an even more recognizable landmark. The lighthouse is often used as the symbol for Jupiter, Florida.
Besides its recognizable monuments, the city of Jupiter is known for its giving spirit. The people of Jupiter have always been strong contributors to the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF). Jupiter residents donate used clothes, electronics, or old household items which the FBCF uses to contribute to their organization. Anyone can schedule a Jupiter donation pickup, and the pickup service, Pickups for Breast Cancer, will dispatch drivers to collect the donations from any pickup location if they are in bags or boxes. You don’t even have to be home. You can leave your donations right outside your door, and the FBCF’s pickup service, Pickups for Breast Cancer, will collect your donation. So you can check out Jupiter’s most famous landmark and donate to breast cancer research at the same time!
Locals and tourists stop at the lighthouse to snap a picture of the best view in Palm Beach County. The Lighthouse also offers a free guided tour through the course of a two-mile trail taking hikers through historic points of Jupiter in the 120-acre Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area.
For art-lovers, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse is also the host of the Wild & Scenic Film Festival. The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is one of the nation’s premiere environmental and adventure film festivals in North America. All the short films delve into the wonders found in nature, and implore the viewer to contribute to the environment. It is truly a fascinating and educational experience for all ages. And if you truly care about the environment, you’ll love to hear. By scheduling a Jupiter donation pickup, you are giving away items that will be recycled and reused by consumers through our thrift store partners, saving more trees and ecosystems every year.
Free Pickup Donations in Jupiter, Florida
Our free Jupiter donation pickup service on behalf of the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF) is carried out through “Pickups for Breast Cancer.” If you have any unwanted décor, knick-knacks, furniture or household items, especially clothes, we’ll pick it up!
Sometimes, we purchase new clothes without throwing out our old outfits, which accumulate in our valuable closet space. Conserving these items over the years can lead to wasting valuable space in our home. Although some items might have sentimental value, sometimes we have other items that hold no existing usefulness for us at all. When this happens, please contact Pickups for Breast Cancer at 1-888-492-4483. We collect all donations on behalf of the FBCF, who uses these to fund their mission of eliminating breast cancer through advocacy, research and education.
